Akshay Recalls Paresh Rawals Character On The Sets Of Dare 2 Dance
Akshay recalls Paresh Rawals character on the sets of Dare 2 Dance
Thanks to the daredevilry that Akshay Kumar gets himself into, hes known for his Khiladi
image. But then theres more! The star is also famous for his sense of humour, which he is yet
again putting to display while he shoots for Life OKs new show Dare 2 Dance, in South Africa.
Kumar plays the host, and a mentor to all the contestants on the show, but just while he is strict
and disciplined, he makes sure theres a dose of fun as well.
A testament to that is the fact that the actor has given nicknames to a few contestants on the
show. For instance, he calls Ranchi girl Alisha Singh (Dance India Dance, and Dil Dosti Dance
fame) Iliyas bhai. It may well be recalled that Iliyas was the name of Paresh Rawals character in
the 2002 film Aankhen. During the under-water episode, I was extremely nervous since I didnt
have much time to rehearse. After my performance, the judges gave me a red card, but then
when I went to Akshay sir, he laughed and told me I performed well, and have got a green card
from both the judges. Thats when he suddenly called me Iliyas bhai and since then he calls me
that, laughs Singh. Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal have done a number of memorable films
together, Aankhen being one of them.
So, it doesnt come as a surprise that the actor instantly recalled the name of Rawals character
from the film. But, the fun doesnt end here. Another contestant, television actress Sayantani
Ghosh who was last seen in Mahabharat, also happens to get a nick name from the star. He calls
her shy-anthony. Now indeed, the star knows how to calm down the fear and anxiety pangs of
the contestants through some laughter on the set.
Presented by Micromax and powered by Honda, Dare 2 Dance is a first of its kind reality
show, where various challenges are thrown in at ten contestants, all of them being good
dancers. The contestants face a new, thrilling challenge and a new dance floor every episode,
thus promising some edge-of-the-seat action. The show goes on air from September,
every Saturday and Sunday, 8.30 pm, only on Life OK.
